  • Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at White Plains Hospital. Since White Plains Hospital’s founding in 1893, we have relied on the greater community for support and sustenance. We are so grateful for our volunteers who share their time and talent in such meaningful ways!

The phrase "makes a difference" may be overused, but it expresses what I feel at the end of the day as a caregiver partner when I have helped someone in distress. Having loaned an ear is often all that’s needed for me to go home with a good feeling that I have helped someone have a better day.
—Stephie, Caregiver Support Program

Currently, volunteers provide support for patients and families through programs and services, such as:

Fundraising activities

Junior volunteer program

Assignments are available for students ages 16 to 17 to work with staff in clinical and nonclinical areas. Students will get the benefit of learning, observing, and interacting with patients, families and staff, offering their insight and talent to enhance the patient and family experience. Scholarship opportunities available for volunteers graduating high school, offered by the Friends of White Plains Hospital.

As a high school student, my life is often packed with tests, sports and homework. However, volunteering at the hospital is a highlight of my week, because I get to be a part of making someone's hospital experience a little less stressful. I am so glad I decided to start volunteering in my freshmen year because of the people I have met and helped and the better person I have become.
