Important information and update regarding convalescent plasma donation
Thank you to the potential plasma donors who have been reaching out to help build the supply of plasma for White Plains Hospital COVID-19 patients. The response and offers of support have been tremendous.
While the Hospital has been facilitating "directed donations," i.e., donations of plasma that come back directly to the Hospital, as of April 15, 2020, New York Blood Center (NYBC) will no longer be scheduling directed donations. NYBC is now focusing its efforts to building up a community supply of convalescent plasma. The goal is to build the supply more broadly to be able to offer benefit across the community.
How you can help
The more donors who donate through NYBC or the American Red Cross, the greater the community supply of plasma will be. We encourage all eligible donors to schedule appointments directly with New York Blood Center or the American Red Cross. For more information, and to schedule an appointment, go to nybc.org/covidplasma or redcrossblood.org/plasma4covid.
