Maternity services

Welcoming a new child into a family is an exciting and life-changing experience. The maternity program at White Plains Hospital offers exceptional, family-centered care before, during and after birth.

Families who choose to have their babies at White Plains Hospital receive the highest level of clinical and personal care in a modern, comfortable environment. For newborns who need specialist care, we are also home to one of the most advanced Level III neonatal intensive care units (NICU) in the Hudson Valley, recognized by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses with a gold-level Beacon award for nursing excellence.

An exceptional maternity team

Our maternity care team is committed to helping women have the birthing experience they want. Our highly experienced, board-certified obstetricians and laborists are available on-site 24/7. Every patient also receives individualized care from our Magnet® recognized nursing staff. Our skilled staff also includes:

  • Obstetric anesthesiologists, available 24/7
  • Neonatologists who specialize in treating babies with more complex births
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians specializing in high-risk pregnancy care
  • Specialty certified nursing staff
  • Certified nurse-midwives

As a designated Baby-Friendly Hospital, we also support every new parent's breastfeeding journey, starting moments after their baby is born. Our mother-baby nurses are certified breastfeeding counselors, along with a team of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.

Our L&D, mother-baby and NICU nurses hold specialty certifications in obstetrics, maternal-newborn nursing and high-risk neonatal nursing. They provide support services which are available to you after hospital discharge to help through your transition period.

Patient Accommodations

Our modern birthing suites are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and offer a comfortable, spacious and private environment for patients and families.

Following delivery, the mom and newborn move to our Mother-Baby Unit, a peaceful, safe and supportive environment that encourages you to room in with your baby so that the two of you can bond during your hospital stay.

Each private room in the Mother-Baby Unit is equipped with a Central Infant Security Monitoring System. Each room can accommodate one overnight adult guest.

Virtual maternity tours

To keep our community safe, we are currently not running in-person tours of the maternity center. To find out more about our facilities, watch our virtual tour or email wphcmail@wphospital.org with the subject "Maternity Tour" for more information.
