As part of its comprehensive cancer care, White Plains Hospital has multiple, site-specific Tumor Boards, where our cancer specialists form expert panels to review and discuss optimal treatment plans for our cancer patients. Tumor Boards are made up of physicians from medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology, as well as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, navigators, genetic counselors, clinical trial study coordinators and other interdisciplinary team members. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that each patient's case is thoroughly reviewed and considered by a diverse team of experts.
Tumor Boards at the White Plains Hospital Center for Cancer Care serve as the most comprehensive approach to determining the best treatment for our patients. The approach is evidence-based and best-outcomes driven, and all participating members offer recommendations for a plan of care. In addition, they are also an excellent way of identifying patients who are candidates for clinical trial and study.
Since some cases are more complicated than others, Tumor Boards have increasingly become more focused and disease-specific. At the Hospital, our oncology experts run their own Tumor Boards and partner with cancer specialists at Montefiore Medical Center to review complex cases. We have Tumor Boards for Breast, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Gynecologic, Head and Neck, Hematology, Hepatobiliary, Neurological, Thoracic and General Tumor Board.
- The Breast, Gastrointestinal, and Hepatobiliary Tumor Boards meet weekly.
- The Head and Neck, Hematology, Neurological, ands Thoracic Tumor Boards meet bi-weekly.
- The Genitourinary, Gynecologic and Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards meet monthly.
