On January 1, 2021, Montefiore’s contract with UnitedHealthcare expired, putting Montefiore Hospitals including White Plains Hospital and its physicians at Scarsdale Medical Group and White Plains Hospital Physician Associates (WPHPA) out-of-network, and leaving you without access to the doctors and hospital you know and trust.
Despite Montefiore’s best efforts to negotiate in good faith to prevent this from impacting our patients, United has stopped negotiating.
HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO KEEP YOUR DOCTOR & HOSPITAL:
- CALL OUR INSURANCE ADVISORY TEAM AND ASK ABOUT YOUR OPTIONS
While we are currently out-of-network with UnitedHealthcare, you still may be able to receive care at White Plains Hospital and our physicians’ practices. Call 1-855-KEEPWPH to learn about your options.
- ASK YOUR EMPLOYER TO SWITCH YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE
More than 50 local employers have switched or added another option for their employees to be able to get the care they need from the doctors they trust. Ask your HR Manager to provide another insurance option that has the Montefiore Health System in network. You can customize this letter to send to your HR Manager encouraging them to switch.
- ALSO, IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT EMERGENCY CARE IS ALWAYS COVERED
In the event of an emergency, you can always use the WPH Emergency Department. Find out the facts.
In a recent blog post, Rick Pollack, the President and CEO of the American Hospital Association, offered his opinion on UnitedHealthcare:
“United’s enrollees deserve better. They entrust billions of dollars each year in the company’s hands with the expectation that their hard-earned dollars will be there for them when they need it. They deserve to have their care paid for and to have the choice of providers they were promised when they purchased their coverage. They deserve to not have their health insurer undermine their quality of their care.”
